Dubai Roller Derby Bout
Category: DRD News

It’s been three years in the making and we are finally having our first exhibition bout! Join us as we team up with Abu Dhabi Roller Derby for the first ever exhibition bout (game) of roller derby in the UAE, on April 17th, 3-5pm at du Forum in Abu Dhabi.

The exhibition bout (3-5pm) will be preceded by a boot camp session open for skaters and skating referees in the morning (9-12 am), as well as a volunteers training (12-3 pm). Entrance is free and open to the public of all ages, so no excuses!

We’re super excited and can’t wait to share the world of roller derby with all of you. As DRD league manager and founding member Liz On Ya put it, ”We’re looking forward to showing off all the hard work that we’ve put into developing as athletes and the sport of roller derby. We’re excited for the opportunity to contribute to the development of women’s sports in the Gulf and to be able to share this event with our sister league.”

Our sister league Abu Dhabi Roller Derby is equally excited, with founding member and treasurer Nerd Badger saying, “These are exciting times because we are making roller derby history in the Middle East, by having our first bout, together with Dubai Roller Derby and at such a great venue (du Forum) I am very proud to be part of it”.

Woo! We can’t wait to get rolling. See you all on the 17th! It’s going to be an afternoon of fun and non-stop roller derby action.
